It is funny to me. People down south of us (AKA: Utah) are complaining about the weather, and the snow and how there is so much snow. Well folks, I hate to break it to you, but it is currently too cold for it to snow in Idaho.....

In fact it brings me back to the mission (this is not really how I walked...honest) when it took complete concentration to just not fall on the ice and snow....while tracting in -33 degree weather. Just FYI, you can't wear enough clothes to keep warm, and yet, I loved every minute of it.

Or days like this, when there were ice storms and we couldn't drive so we had to walk. Made for some HILARIOUS moments, like sliding down driveways on your butt, while taking your companion out with you, and all your supplies and books go flying down the driveway past you. Haha, love it.
Good memories....luckily I don't have to deal with this weather in a skirt anymore. Life is good. But, I hope it warms up a least enough to snow, that would be nice.

What a Beautiful Mess

Man, it has been a while and life has gotten EXTREMELY crazy over the last month or so! Lots and lots has happened, good and stressful! :) Such is life. I tried to upload pictures but it wouldn't cooperate. Dang.

For Thanksgiving I went to Utah and met up with my family there. We hung out and on Friday we went to Savior of the world. To top it all off, BYU beat U of U. What more could you want.

I am also working as an ordinance worker in the Rexburg temple now and love it. It is such a blessing to be able to work there for 7 hours every Saturday and feel of the spirit that is there. Love it. Love it. Love it.

I am loving teaching seminary. It is a lot of fun, and I love my kids. I have learned that kids will be kids and that can mean some really hilarious/dorky things happen, but I love them none the less. I have two classes in Shelley Id that are 90 minutes long and then I just picked up another class in Sugar City Id that is 70 minutes long. I love teaching from the scriptures. It is different from the mission because it is going through the whole Book of Mormon one chapter at a time and ust dissecting it! I love being able to do that and see the kids feeling the spirit and continue to strengthen their testimonies of the restored gospel.

I am staying crazy busy with preparation and getting ready for next semester and so I have been running non stop. Next semester I am taking a full load of classes starting at 7:15 each morning and tuesdays and thursdays don't get out of classed till 9:15 at night! Yikes....not looking forward to it! But life will go on!

I got to hang out with lots of fun people, and a really cute baby!! I can't wait till they get back in town!!!

How To......

Doctors and people are always trying to tell us how to prevent the swine flu. You know the answers, in fact, you could probably say them with me.

1. First and foremost: Wash your hands LOTS
2. PLEASE!!! Dont sneeze like this:

3. Use hand sanitizer

.....the list goes on and on.

However....I have never been cautioned not to do this:

So, what doctors aren't telling us is that the real way to prevent the swine flu is to NOT follow this little tikes' example, and life will be good.

Say Hello to.............................

It seems like ever since the mission, my life has just been crazy. Everything from speaking at EFY, to completing another semester of school, to surgery, and whatever else has happened, I have really been kept on my toes.

I have also been looking really hard for a job....with no success. Until now.........................

Last week my teacher called me in and asked if I wanted to try for a teaching job that was opening up. Sure! So all last week, monday through friday, I taught seminary at a High School in Rigby. It went well, but I wasn't sure that I had really nailed it down. However....I got called in to my teachers office again today, and I got the job! So, say hello to the newest seminary and institute teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I am so excited!

I am getting thrown into a pretty tough situation, so it will definitely have its challenges, but I am excited to see what happens and what the Lord has in store. It is only part-time, but I get paid REALLY well.....and it should be really fun!!

Once again, I am surprised at the blessings I many people were way more qualified to have this I am going to need the Lord's help, but I feel like this could be the start to something GREAT!

Recent Adventures!

The last few weeks haven't been TOO exciting, but I have had a few fun adventures. One week I tried to organize a get together with elders and sisters from the mission but only four of us could come. However, it was still enjoyable and we went and hiked R Mountain. It is right outside of Rexburg about 20 minutes and it was a nice little hike! Me, Josh Poulsen, Matt McMullin and his wife all went. It was a great day to go too....sunny, warm, with a nice (strong) breeze!

Then the next thing that happened, and that was SO fun is that Cristi FAVORITE companion from the mission that I only served with for two months wcame to visit! I had a GREAT time with her. We went on a nice drive out to the dunes to experience Idaho a little, went to this AWESOME comedian thing, ultimate frisbee, womens broadcast, missionary homecomings, Bajios for lunch, an awesomely fun game night at the Riries and I could go on and on........but, to make a long story short....we played HARD this weekend! Love this girl!

The next best news is that I got even closer to getting a job! I got hired on by CES/Seminary and Institute Program as a substitute seminary teacher. I haven't been called in yet due to the fact that Idaho is on break for two weeks for the spud harvest...but once the schools are back in session, I am hoping to get called regularly. I am still looking for another job...but this is a start!
well...thats all I got so far! I can't wait for conference and for the things that will be taught there! I will take more pictures and post some things.....hopefully I have some EXCITING adventures soon!

...and THIS is why I love Rexburg.

Sometimes I ask myself, why do I love this place so much? It is small, the hangout place is Walmart, it is always windy, the winters are miserable, the girl to guy ratio is pretty far from even....yeah. But then I take the time to think about why I like this place. The campus is GORGEOUS, in the summers it is SO fun to be up here because there are a million things to do, the people up here are absolutely incredible, it is the perfect college town, there are two different dollar theaters, I can enjoy playing sports here that I couldn't play other places, and then there is this building at the top of the hill. You can see it wherever you go in town. According to President Eyring, the whole unfolding of this beautiful building on temple hill, over looking the campus is nothing short of a miracle. I would have to agree. It is absolutely phenomenal.

This temple is one of my favorites. The whole theme of the temple dedication was separating the wheat from the tares. All inside the temple, the furniture, pictures, carpeting, and stained glass windows all have something to do with wheat. I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I may share some insights later...but it amazes me how the Lord works and how he gives us promptings time and time again to help us, to bless us, and to lead us in becoming more refined. More perfected. More like Him. The temple on the hill constantly reminds me of His love, of my Savior's sacrifice, the covenants I have made, and it strengthens my desire to become better, find joy in the journey, and to look to the Light on the hill, knowing that all things will work out. We are so blessed.
And THAT is why I love Rexburg.

So, I came up to Rexburg to do some job hopes that I would beat the rush of crazy 17 and 18 year old freshman, and intense sophomores through seniors in the race of finding the few job openings there are in Rexburg. So I moved into my apartment (with great roommates AGAIN I might add) on monday, and tuesday I started the job hunt. I woke up everyday this week DETERMINED to find a job before Monday when all the other students arrive.

Here is where I have applied:
Deseret Book
Big 5 Sporting Goods
Radio Shack
Wells Fargo
Motel 8
Citizens Community Bank
Down East Outfitters
Frontier Pies
Best Western
Dolce Vita

the large handful of employers who say "we aren't hiring so thanks anyway."

Wells Fargo
Radio Shack

Places Left to Apply:
The Hospital (I would LOVE to work there)
and a few food places.

Wish me luck

What Do Ya Know.....

Well, I have been back at home now for about 2 weeks now and I am really enjoying it. It always amazes me though how being home helps me to realize how much I need to be in Idaho. Now, don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE being with my family, and there are a few people that I enjoy being around...but Idaho is definitely where I need to be.

Since I have been home, I have been working full time at Insight Vision Center and I love it! The ladies I work with are so awesome and they are so fun to be with and to work with! I love it there, and it is so nice to have a job where I love the people I work with, get paid really well for what I am doing, and working full time. It is not very often that you have those three things all at once.

Also, since I have been home, I have found out that I am getting surgery! YIKES! Next thursday I have to go in for surgery, and it will be about a two week recovery...which is good because a week and a half after surgery, I am going back to school!!! I am nervous since I have never had surgery before, but I know it will go well.

There is still lots to do though while I am home. This weekend is the California YSA Conference and I am so excited to see people from the mission and to see BRITTANY MICHELLE HOUSE!!! So fun! I have gotten to see her TWICE since I have been home and now I am going to see her again!! PARTY!! So fun! Then, Kammy Kellogg is getting married the next week, and I get to go through the temple with her and be at her wedding and bridal shower! So, lots of fun ahead...and I can't wait!!

Well, I better get going, but I will be back on here with pictures from the conference soon!!

Another Semester Gone

Time sure flies when you are having fun...or something like that. It is amazing to see how many things can happen in such a short time! It is amazing how life just keeps flying past and it is a challenge to be able to stop and enjoy the blessings that you have been given.

Heck, when I look back at the last 2 years, a LOT has happened.

It seems like just yesterday I was here...when in reality this was August of 2007. CRAZY!

and then a few months ago this happened....August 26th, 2009...the most bitter-sweet, the best, and the hardest day ever. I got to see my family again, but I also got released....sad, but I have learned great lessons from that year and a half, and I have also been able to apply a lot of those lessons and let them aid me in the lessons I am learning now.

And here I am now, having completed another semester of college, and waiting to go back and hang out with these people for 4 or 5 weeks. I have the greatest family EVER!! Love it!

Then I come back up here to school so that I can work here...Gorgeous.

And hang out with cool people like these guys...I love these two girls. Brittany...we wish you were up here...Brandi, we need to hang out more!!!
With finals this week, I needed to take a break and do a quick post. I have one final left, and then a different test tomorrow! And then Wednesday is studying and cleaning. Thursday cleaning and packing and starting the trip to CALIFORNIA!! Love it.

The Things I Love

There are a lot of things in life that I love. I love the fact that I am healthy, and attend a great school. I love the fact that I have so much knowledge of the plan the Lord has set up for us...but lately I have just been so grateful for all the blessings I have. These are some things that I really love!
I love my mission! I am so grateful for the chance that I had to serve in the best field of service that I could've ever been assigned to labor in...the Illinois Peoria Mission. The people I met there have forever changed my life and taught me SO much!! My mission means absolutely EVERYTHING to me!
I love my friends!! I love taking trips with them to go hiking in caves with gear that makes you look dorky, and playing games every sunday night. I love being able to just call them up and know they are up for a girls night. Friends are the best. (Lots of friends not pictured...don't feel bad, just don't have pics of you all!!!)

I love my dog! She is so darn cute and so fun to play with! She is the best dog ever!! She even plays hide-n-go seek with us and doesn't stop till we are all found!! Smart little pup!

I LOVE Nauvoo, and the great spirit felt there. I am so grateful for the sacrifices made so long ago. On Parley street they have a lot of plaques as you wlak down to the river of quotes that the pioneers said as they were leaving Nauvoo, and at the top of them, they all say "Exodus to Greatness". To me, those three words and this picture say it all!

I love Ultimate Frisbee! I had a great team this year, and met some amazing people and friends. I can't wait to play next semester! We will see what happens!

I love the BEAUTIFUL campus where I get to go to school. Summers up here are the absolute BEST!

I love how this temple overlooks campus. It is truly a miracle how everything fell into place up here at this great University. The spirit is so strong up here because of the temple that stands at the top of the hill, a sure sign of steadiness in these days where everything is crazy around us.

I have the BEST brothers in the World!!! Andrew, Danny, and guys are the BEST!! (Even if family bonding time turns into family bondage time when the camera comes out!!!!)

And last but DEFINITELY not least....I have the BEST parents a girl could EVER ask for!! I am so blessed because of the things they taught me and the way that they have loved me and been so patient with me! They are simply the BEST!!

We are all so blessed, and since I have been home from my mission I have realized that even more!! I love life!!

The Ultimate!

So, I came up to school this semester with no intent of doing sports...I just wanted to ease my way back into things. Well....that didn't happen! I am playing on an Ultimate Frisbee team and absolutely LOVE it! It is so fun and my teammates are 100% amazing! And to make it even better....we are undefeated so far! YEAH!

These pictures uploaded backwards...and I don't know how to switch the order of them, so here we go!

This first on is my team after our game today! It was our last game of the season, and we play in the championship tourney next weekend! Today we won 13-1....pretty much dominated! It is me, Tiare, Amanda, Tiffany, Rachel, Sarah Kay, Emily, Shannon, and we are missing Timber...she had to leave early.
This picture is really small, but that is me catching the frisbee in the end zone! The orange team are the Hurricanes....and I won't say much about them. But, they are way good, just little pansies and call everything...but hey, we won, and we played fair. So, enough said.

Another action shot. The girl guarding me here is WAY good! I played ball with her before the mission and she is great!

Lastly, this was a few weeks ago, before it started hailing at our game!! It got overcast and cloudy within just a few minutes. And the cute little boy I am holding is Beck...he is our team Mascot!!! I love this kid!

Anyway...some of these pictures aren't very clear, but it was worth a shot...I will get some more good ones to post.
Well...tomorrow is sunday, which means church, ward prayer, some reading (Armor!! SO good! Everyone should read it!!!!!), and then a nap!! Gotta love it!

Monday, June 15, 2009

Some days it seems like the school work is never ending, but today, fortunately, I have a few minutes. I love these kinds of days. I probably should be doing homework today, but with crazy teachers for my disease class, and cadavers and muscles in anatomy I am wanting a little break from studying before I dive back into it!

I recently made a decision to stay up at school for the fall, and take one class for another minor with CES that I am starting up, and work for a bit. I am excited to stay up here and I really feel like it is what I should be doing, so that is good. I wanted to go home since I was home for only a short time after the mission, but my parents will just have to come up here, heh?

I am reading a really good book in my spare time......wait...spare time?? Not really...but a few minutes each night I should say...and it is called Armor by Kim B. Clark, and it is all about putting on the full armor of God like it talks about in Ephesians. It is a really good book and I just started it but I have already learned so much. I have come to really appreciate time to read a good book because of the things you can learn and the way that you can get direction to know what to do as you read. It is amazing how the Lord works...isn't it!

Well, my brother just got home from his mission on Friday and I can't WAIT to go back to California to see him and the rest of the family! I am going home for five days over the fourth of July...and I am so so so excited!! I need to get out of Rexburg for a few days! Hopefully soon I can make it down to Utah to see Lancaster and some other people!! That would be grand.

Well..other then the fact that it has been raining for about 10 days straight is going reall good! 5 weeks till the semester is over....I have survived so far!! It can continue!!! Well...for now, I better get back to homework! My break is up!

I will post some pictures of Ultimate and other adventures shortly!!

Here we go again!

Ok, so my last blog got all messed up so we will see how this one goes! I don't have time right now but hopefullyI will have this one all ready and cute pretty soon. I will work on it and do a good update soon!
